Hello welcome to this page. On this page I will be telling about families of the civil war.
Many families were split apart in the civil war. Often some members of a family would live in the south and some in the north and because of that they oftened believed differently.
The south believed in state's rights but the north believed in union rights. Abraham Lincoln was the president at this time and he had three brothers-in-law in the south fighting against the north.
Lincoln's brothers-in-law died at battle in the south. It was really hard in many families to see the men in their family go off to battle and not knowing when they would come back that is if they came back. Some men didn't want to go but were forced to by a draft.
The civil war splited families of low-ranking privates and the the families of high-ranking generals.
The civil war was very bad and ruined many lives and families. The civil war was often called a war in which brother faught agianst brother.
